SC Hants Cup Final Travel
27 Apr 2008
Basingstoke take on Farnborough in the Hampshire Cup Final at Deane Court, Bournemouth, on May 10th in what promises to be a challenging contest. Basingstoke will be looking to put one over on their Hampshire rivals after a 1-0 defeat in the Hampshire Cup Final of 2005/6.

Basingstoke started their Hants Cup campaign, back in November, with a visit to the Isle of Wight to take on Brading Town, in which 'Stoke came out on top of a 2-1 result. Basingstoke then faced Winchester City at the Camrose and bagged a 5-0 victory. It was then that Basingstoke faced last years winners Aldershot and it took extra time for Basingstoke to come out 2-1 winners. Basingstoke's semi final opponents were last years runners up Fleet Town. Goals from James Taylor, Michael Charles and Ty Smith gave Basingstoke a 3-0 result and a chance for the 'Stoke to end the season with a trophy.

Town Earn Draw at Stortford
07 Apr 2008
Basingstoke who welcomed back first team regulars Ben Surey and Steve Laidler earned a point with a 0-0 draw at Woodside Park, Mat Neems who earned his first start for 'Stoke went closest hitting the bar from 8 yards out.

'Stoke face top of the league Lewes at home on Saturday when they visit The Camrose.

Good 2nd Half Display Earns Town Point
30 Mar 2008
Town grabbed a point in a good battling second half performance where there were chances for either side to win. 'Stoke went 1-0 down just before half time through Ledgister ( 43), but Michael Charles (66) earned town a point with a good header.

Both teams pushed for the win but in poor conditions on the pitch neither team could find the winner. A good point for 'Stoke after last weeks performance against Bath.

Town are away to Bishop's Stortford next Saturday who are sitting in 5th place and looking good for a play off space.

Easter Horror Show
26 Mar 2008
First the Dorchester game where we didn't really ever play to our ability and we ended up on the wrong end of a 1-0.

Bank Holiday Monday saw Bath City come to the camrose and absolutely tear us apart from the kick off, we just didn’t have any fight in us yes we have some major injuries but to be 3-0 down after 29 minutes on the clock just isn't acceptable.

Hayes & Yeading up next and things must improve if we are to maintain our midtable position.

'Stoke Let Two Goal Slip
16 Mar 2008
Town let a 2-0 lead at half time slip against ten men to draw 2-2. Town went 2-0 up thanks to a James Taylor (13) tap in & a screamer from Ben Wells (22).

Braintree hit back in the second half with a brace from Quinton (75,82).

This was Steve 'Rico' Richardson's 1st league game in charge and we seemed to have the game under control but an injury to Hamilton meant he had to bring Ben Townsend on at right back and switch Ty Smith to central midfield, the game changed from here as Braintree took control.

Although we let a 2-0 lead slip it was a very good first half performance and the performance of Tom Bird was very encouraging.

Vines Steps Down
09 Mar 2008
Rafi Razzak confirmed the Board Of Directors has asked Francis Vines to step aside as First Team Manager immediately.

Steve Richardson has been made First Team Manager until a permanent successor is found.

Town Sinking Fast
08 Mar 2008
Francis Vines took charge of his first game since he resigned, but will still remain in his position of First Team Manager until the end of the season.

Town’s lineup was poor with Tom Bird making his debut at left back, Ben Townsend at right back and David Cates playing out of position at right wing.
With a manager who has resigned how could of the outcome been anything but a St Albans win, how can he motivate his players when he doesn't seem to have anything to play for.

St Albans had control of the match from the first minute to the last and we were lucky to escape with just a 4-1 defeat. St Albans went in at half time 1-0 up thanks to a Paul Bruce penalty, but after the break they really took control and were 4-1 up after 15 minutes of the second half with goals from Paul Hakim (46), Wasiu Akanni Sunday (55), and Paul Bruce grabbed his brace on 60 minutes. Taylor grabbed what proved to be just a consolation for Town with a header on 58.

Will Vines still be in charge for the game on Tuesday against Fleet?

Francis Vines has tendered his resignation to the Board which has been accepted, Francis will be leaving his post as First Team Manager at the end of this season.
