Around the League in 24Hrs – 13th February 2019
With no mid-week game for us this week, I thought I would take a quick look at our current squad? This list contains players who have played some part in the last month of football for the club and it’s not been announced that they have left the club. The list also contains players who are either on dual-registration, some players on loan, and one or two probably paid by external clubs. What I do know is come every game time, Martin Kuhl has to look at his injury-list, then looks find out what sort match-day squad he can assemble, but with the understanding he could lose one or two players due to needs of other clubs.
These players are not listed in any preferential way, but as I remembered them.

The Manny Watch
Well due to those Supporters Club Members who donated to his fund last week, not only is he back for a month, but he was back with a bang last Saturday. Two quality finishes, one superb assist and his general play was at a level we have needed for some time. His general first touch and pass play was exceptional on a poor pitch. His performance was only blighted by the penalty miss for his hat-trick.
Games in our league this week
So with just three mid-week games to cover, we will start with the two that could have affected our league position.
Starting at Dorchester Town’s home game against 21st placed Frome Town. With Dorchester Town sitting in 15th place a first half goal by Frome’s Rex Mannings was enough on a disappointing night of football, to secure all 3 pts for the visitors. The Magpies also lost Joe Low to a red card after a shocking two-footed lunge in injury-time. Frome despite their win, still remain in 21st place and still 2pts behind both Chesham Utd and Gosport Borough on 32 pts.
In further good news for Basingstoke Town, Tiverton Town travelled a shortish distance to the Black & Gold Stadium to take on playoff hopefuls Poole Town. Goals by Moore & Griffin gave the Dolphins a 2-0 halftime lead, The 3 points were then secured when Poole’s leading goal-scorer Jake Scrimshaw added another goal on 67 mins, as Poole cemented their playoff place with the 3-0 win. Poole Town still sit in fifth and final playoff place and have opened up a 3-point gap over Harrow Borough in sixth.
The last game of last night’s matches, saw the increasing unreliable Weymouth travel into Wales to take on Merthyr Town. The Martyrs continued on their recent good home performances, as they took a 19th minute lead behind Ian Traylor’s goal. Weymouth then fell further behind to a second goal, this time by Owain Jones, and although a 90th minute goal by Benjamin Thomson brought the game close, Merthyr held onto win and put a dent in Weymouth’s playoff hopes.
