Around The League in 48 Hours – 27th March 2019

Around the League in 48 Hrs – 27th March 2019
After Saturday’s draw against Met Police, we have just one more game in the month of March.
Basingstoke Fixtures in March are;
2nd – Hendon AWAY – Hopes for something out of this? LOST NIL POINTS
9th – Swindon Supermarine HOME – We are at home and on our day, we can beat anyone and certainly Swindon Supermarine. WON 3 POINTS
16th – Dorchester Town AWAY – A huge six-pointer after last night’s result, where their new Manager has already turned around the Magpies fortunes. Their home record currently sits at W 3 D 5 L 9 which however is far from impressive! LOST NIL POINTS
23rd – Met Police HOME – Defensively we need to be at our best, but again more than winnable. Their away record is W 6 D 6 L 4. DRAW 1 POINT
30th – Wimborne Town AWAY – The Magpies home record is impressive W 10 D 4 L 4, and despite their recent poor run, it will still be tough to pick-up anything on the road. If we shut down Tobias Holmes, then who knows?
How many points do you think we get from these games?
Currently sits at 4 out of 9
Games in our league this week
Only two games in our league, neither of which affected our league position. These were Kings Langley’s come from behind win, as they beat Hartley Wintney 2-1 in the Village Derby and moved themselves into the 5th and final playoff spot.
The other game was Tiverton Town’s unsurprising 0-2 home loss to the vastly improved Chesham Utd. Tiverton although on decent form recently, slipped down to 14th with the loss, but are currently looking safe from the relegation zone with just six games to go.
Hampshire Snr Cup Semi-Final at the Camrose – Tuesday 2nd April 2019
I would like to ask all those readers, to cancel their pool matches, their dart matches and any other plans and come along and support your team next Tuesday.
If we can beat our opponents, the Southampton U23’s then we will face one of our arch rivals Havant & Waterlooville in the final. The Venue is still to be decided.
Ticket prices for next week’s semi-final are Adults £8, Concessions £4 and Kids £1

This week’s opponents Wimborne Town sit above us in 5th place with an average home attendance of 424.
Games To Keep An Eye On This Weekend
With us just outside the relegation places, but within two points of that bottom three, here are the other important games that can affect our position.
Dorchester Town Vs Beaconsfield Town (16th)
Frome Town (21st) Vs Farnborough
Gosport Borough (20th) Vs Harrow Borough
Poole Town Vs Hendon (17th)
Swindon Supermarine Vs Walton Casuals (18th)
Chris Flood – Really
A couple of weeks ago it was announced and I was then made aware that ex-Basingstoke fan favourite Chris Flood would be playing his last game for Slough Town and would be looking for a club further north has his work in Manchester I believe was making it difficult for him to play mid-week matches.
Then low and behold it is announced that he has signed for the more southerly based Salisbury FC.
So did he join Salisbury because the money he was offered at Salisbury was enough for him to continue dealing with the extra travelling?
Now there is nothing with this decision, but I see and hear how Non-League football and players, are not like the Premier League, well to me this is just another case of a footballer who will change his mind once he sees the pound sign his pay packet.
