Around the League in 48Hrs
This is just a quick update to the matches played in our league over the past two nights.
Tuesday night saw 8 games played, starting with out let’s just say somewhat disappointing 2-1 loss at Harrow Borough, with Jack McKnight our scorer on the night.
Other notable games were Weymouth’s 2-1 come from behind win in front of 1,006 fans against playoff rival Salisbury, with Goodship & Thomson on the scoresheet for the Terras.
On a night of playoff contenders match-ups, we had Hendon Town & Beaconsfield Town fighting out a 2-2 draw with Ricardo German netting twice for Hendon, whilst Merthyr Town continued on their winning ways and moved into 5th place win with a 5-1 demolition of Tiverton Town, with Ian Traylor netting a hat-trick in the second half for the Martyrs.
Metropolitan Police moved into 10th place with a comprehensive 1-4 win at Hartley Wintney, whilst Walton Casuals continued their rise to 11th spot with a 0-2 win at relegation contenders Chesham Utd.
Also, at the bottom Staines lost again against Kings Langley, who with back-to-back wins are now upto 15th spot and are now next away opponents on December 1st.
The last match in our league on Tuesday was Frome Town who lost at home to Swindon Supermarine 1-2.
So, onto Wednesday night with just one match in our league. This saw Farnborough beat Gosport Borough 2-1 at Cherrywood Road, but it also marked an inauspicious start for ex-Stokie George Bennett, whose night finished after just 72 minutes when he received his second yellow card of the night. That win moved Farnborough up into 12th spot, one place above us.
Leading goal-scorers in the league are as follows;
Ricardo German – Hendon Town 14
Brandon Goodship – Weymouth 13
Finally, with it being FA Trophy weekend, there are just 6 matches in our league. I will update those matches on next week’s Monday Morning Quarterback post.
