Our last game in January, saw Stoke come close to taking the lead in the opening minutes, as a shot from Rudy Allen, flew over the crossbar as they attacked the railway end in the first-half.
Stoke continued to attack, but a decent cross from Ben Cook found Liam Ferdinand, but his header flew high over the bar.

Hanwell’s first attack of the half on fourteen minutes brought them the opening goal of the game, as they converted via the penalty spot, after being awarded a dubious free-kick for handball. Basingstoke 0-1 Hanwell

Stoke then failed to draw level on twenty minutes, as Ben Cook, pulled his shot wide of the left-hand post with the goal beckoning.

Ben Cook then reprieved himself as another cross from right, allowed him to take one touch, before firing home from ten yards. GOAL! Basingstoke Town 1 – 1 Hanwell Town (Cook 29 mins)

There were then two long delays, one an injury to a Hanwell player, then another as our Manager Dan Brownlie and then assistant Aaron Nicholson was booked for questioning a decision.

With five minutes to the break, chances at both ends were missed, as the ball was pinballing around our six yard area, we then broke and Allen slid the ball through to Robbie Gallagher, whose shot from the edge of the penalty-area was straight at the Hanwell keeper.

There was one more incident, waived away by the referee, as a cross saw a Hanwell defender came straight through the back of Ferdinand to head the ball clear.
We went into the break all-square.

Halftime Score: Basingstoke Town 1 vs 1 Hanwell Town
It was Stoke who had the opening attack after the restart, as Ferdinand found space to hit a shot that was held by the visiting keeper low down by the left-hand post.

Hanwell were then gifted a second-goal, as Simon Grant, in an attempt to pass the ball out from the back, found a Hanwell player ten yards out in front of goal, who tapped the ball home into an empty net. Basingstoke 1-2 Hanwell

However, the lead was not to last more than four minutes, as were awarded a penalty for a foul in the box, that was neatly put away by James Clark GOAL!! Basingstoke Town 2 – 2 Hanwell Town (Clark 56 mins Pen)

Very little to note over the next ten minutes, and Stoke made its first change, as Ben Cook was replaced by Aleks Kokoska (65 mins).

Hanwell retook the lead as a shot from the edge of the area, flew past a crowd of players and into the net. Basingstoke 2-3 Hanwell.

Stoke made its next change as Pele Koulsseoue was replaced by Charlie Barlow (82 mins).

Hanwell doubled their lead a minute later as Deadfield could only direct his clearance into his own net. Basingstoke 2-4 Hanwell.

The game was drifting away, but Stoke in added-time found a third goal, through Ferdinand who slotted home GOAL!!! Basingstoke Town 3 – 4 Hanwell Town (Ferdinand 93 mins)

Stoke looked for an equaliser, but calls for a penalty were waived away, and the referee blew the final whistle a minute later on another home defeat.

Match Thought’s
It may seem strange, but despite the seven goals, there was periods of very little other goalmouth action, but errors at the back, saw us lose our fifth home game of the season.
Reports of another winger being brought in this week, but no sign of a striker.
Has Jonny Efedje gone for good, despite being on a dual-registration at Westfield, who played against Badshot Lea with Le Paih finding the net.
We slip one place to eleventh.
Up Next:
We are back on the road and this time to Somerset, as we head to Taunton Town on the first day of February (1st) KO 3pm
