On another warm sunny afternoon, the Stoke faithful swelled the crowd at Hamworth Villa, and the game got underway and the first action of note was on five minutes, when Bradley Wilson slipped the ball to Marcio Neves close to the left-hand touchline, who then cut inside and slipped past two defenders, and hit a curling shot that flew over the bar, but appears to have taken a deflection, as the referee awards a corner. Nothing comes from corner.

Very little action as we move past ten minutes.
Hanworth win a free-kick 40 yds out, but the kick curls wide of the far post.

Stoke continue to come forward and on 20 minutes, Wilson slips the ball through to George Reid on the left, who outpaces his defender and clips the ball past the keeper from seven yards into the net. GOAL ! Hanworth Villa 0 v 1 Basingstoke Town (Reid 20 mins)

The game gets back underway and from another Stoke attack, this time down the right, the cross comes over and it’s Wilson whose first to the ball and he pokes it past the keeper. GOAL !! Hanworth Villa 0 v 2 Basingstoke Town (Wilson 23 mins)

The game continues with Stoke coming forward, with the occasional attack from Hanworth as the game moves past the half-hour.
Shots from both sides over the next few minutes don not trouble the keepers as they fly over the keeper.

Marcio gets knocked over for about the fifth time in the first-half and the referee looks to book the Hanworth player, but then changes his mind.

Then with four minutes before the break, a shot from Hanworth, pulls a superb save out from Paul Strudley and Hanworth win a corner. Stoke defend the corner as the ball is headed clear.
The referee plays three minutes of added time, before blowing the halftime whistle.

Halftime – Hanworth Villa 0 v 2 Basingstoke Town
The game gets back underway with no changes by Stoke and with us attacking the open end.

The first action is when Reid wins a free-kick about 25yds out. The cross from Wilson flies across the face of the goal and is headed out for a corner.
The keepers call for the corner kick, but then proceeds to drop the cross, and the ball is hacked clear.
Stoke continue to push forward, but Hanworth are able to keep us at bay as we move past the hour.

Hanworth have produced very little in the second-half, but a move down the left wing, results in a cross that flies across the face of the goal and out for a goal-kick.

We then win a corner down on the left, and the kick is initially cleared, but the ball is pushed through to Nathan Smart, who just gets a touch on the ball before getting knocked over, and the referee awards a penalty. Bradley Wilson is back taking the penalties this week and sends the keeper the wrong way, as he slides the ball to the keeper’s left. GOAL !!! Hanworth Villa 0 v 3 Basingstoke Town (Wilson 67 mins Pen)

Manager Dan Brownlie, decides to give some players a rest, with Monday’s game 48 hours away, as George Reid is replaced by Scott Armsworth (68 mins).
Stoke again press forward again with Williamson & Marcio combining down the right, but Hanworth hold us off.

Then in what was a bizarre 60 seconds as we make our second substitution with Ezio Touray replacing a hard-working Sam Argent, and the ball is pushed back to the keeper and the keeper hits the ball against Ezio and rebounds towards the goal, and Ezio taps it home from 2 yards. GOAL !!!! Hanworth Villa 0 v 4 Basingstoke Town (Touray 74 mins)

Minutes later we make our final change with Simon Dunn being replaced by Luis Le Paih.
Paul Strudley goes in the book, presumably for time-wasting.

Armsworth has been given a more midfield playing role since coming on, as he receives the ball just inside the Hanworth then takes the ball 15 yards before hitting a decent shot from 30yds that flies straight at the keeper.

Hanwell win a corner in the 82 minute, but the corner is defended easily.
With five minutes to go the game is dead and buried.

Then with a minute to go, Marcio then slides the ball through to Luiz, who slams the ball home, but the linesman has his flag up and the goal does not stand.

We then have another attack and a shot from Ezio rebounds of the defender and the keeper, and Hanwell are able to clear.
We play three minutes of injury-time, before the referee blows the final whistle and the three points are coming home to Hampshire.

Match Thought’s
Our first win of the season in what seemed a comfortable victory against a side who were on a long unbeaten run. Again all the players played their part and another brace by Wilson sends him to the top of the goal-scoring chart.
