The game got underway with both teams trading attacks in the opening minutes, with Havant’s attack forcing a save out of Simon Grant.
On ten minutes, Havant opened the scoring after they won a free-kick outside Stoke’s penalty area, which beat the wall and found the net Havant 1-0 Basingstoke
Stoke despite some possession were still struggling to put a shot on Havant’s goal, and Grant had to make another save from a Havant attack on eighteen minutes.
On twenty minutes Aleks Kokoszka went in the book for a tackle just inside our half.
Stoke were still battling to get in the game and after some more good possession won a free kick around thirty yards away. The kick taken by Sam Deadfield although beating the wall was tame, and the Havant keeper made an easy save.
Just before the half-hour Stoke were reduced to ten, as Havant were awarded a penalty after a tackle from Kokoszka saw Havant awarded a penalty and Aleks receive his second yellow card. Grant was sent the wrong way and Havant doubled their lead. Havant 2-0 Basingstoke
Stoke then made its first change as George Reid was sacrificed for James Clark.
It was Stoke who then pulled a goal back, after a shot from Rudy Allen outside the penalty area, that flew into the top of the net, GOAL! Havant & Waterlooville 2 – 1 Basingstoke Town (Allen 37 mins)
Stoke continued to push forward, but a shot from D’Andre Brown flew over the bar.
Havant then failed to make it three, as they broke from a Stoke error, but the Havant forward made a mess of his finish, sending the ball wide.
After two added-minutes the referee blew the halftime with us a goal behind and a man down.

It was a slow start to the second-half, but Havant shortly found the net, but the linesman ruled it out for offside.
However it was not long before they did find their third goal, as the Havant right-back took the ball sixty yards before sending the ball across a shot from inside the penalty area, which was blocked away to a Havant striker, who found the net. Havant 3-1 Basingstoke
Stoke then made a double substitution with Robbie Gallagher replaced by Dan Warre and D’Andre Brown replaced by Luis Le Paih (60 mins).
Havant looked all the world to have added a fourth, but Grant made a stunning save.
Stoke continued to battle but Havant used their man advantage to keep us away from their penalty area, and then from another attack added their fourth Havant 4-1 Basingstoke.
Stoke then made it’s fourth change with the hard-working Liam Ferdinand replaced by Brody Peart (71 mins).
Stoke won a free-kick after Warre was pulled down, but Peart’s kick failed to beat the wall. Stoke had a little more possession but again Havants defense stood firm.
Havant had two further chances but a good block and a poor finish kept it at four.
It proved a temporary let-off as deep in added-time Havant found the net from a stunning shot from thirty yards Havant 5-1 Basingstoke.
The referee then called a halt to the game and Stoke went down to another defeat.

Any form of comeback, was affected by Aleks Kokoszka’s red card, and the subsequent converted penalty and despite a bright five minutes after that, we were second-best for most of the game, and I can’t remember us troubling the Havant keeper in the whole of the second-half. Following our fourth straight league loss, we slip another three places to eleventh, and with a lot to change.
