Friendly – Met Police 3 v 2 Basingstoke Town Saturday 13th July 2019

In Basingstoke’s 3rd friendly of the season, and in the bright summer sun, they took on a strong Met Police team on the same 3G pitch as they drew 2-2 against Chertsey Town on Tuesday evening.

Basingstoke still missing the likes of Ben Wright on holiday and Reece Rusher (wrist injury) in the starting line-up, but hosting a few of the other signed players.

Basingstoke deservedly took the lead through a well hit finish and then doubled their lead, with a scrappy finish that still had enough to beat the Met Police keeper.

Stoke still looked the better of the two teams, however the Old Bill shook Stoke with two goals on 40 and 41 mins.

The second half saw Stoke go behind early on and despite some hard work, we were unable to earn the draw.
