Around the League in 48Hrs \u2013 16th\nJanuary 2019<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Well following last night\u2019s comfortable\nvictory at Fareham, we successfully moved into the semi-final draw of the\nHampshire Snr Cup. The other Qtr-Final played on the night saw Havant &\nWaterlooville beat Team Solent 3 -0. The semi-final draw is not likely to take\nplace until after other two Qtr-Finals have been played which is currently\nscheduled on the 5th<\/sup> February 2019. These games pit Sholing vs AFC\nBournemouth and Bournemouth vs Southampton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Well let\u2019s take more of a look at last\nnight\u2019s success, as a below strength starting-line-up was well supported by our\nyoung squad players. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A full 90 minutes for Liam Hunt and over\nan hour for young Alex Shean, as well as 20 minutes for Aiden Harris, were good\nsigns for the future. They all played well enough to deserve future playing\ntimes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A brace for Ben Wright & Sam Smart which\ncould have easily been more for both on the night and goals for Deadfield, Stow\nand Akers finished the scoring off on a night, that to be honest was against\npoor opposition and on a pretty awful pitch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the bad side was Rob Gerrard\u2019s\nachilles injury, which may keep him out for a while.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Defensively, we played well and apart\nfrom three half-chances we kept Fareham\u2019s forwards under control on the night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We were also able to allow Aaron Redford\nto remain on the bench, thus not risking him on a night where the pitch was wet\nand muddy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Martin Kuhl no doubt will already be\nlooking to prepare a plan for Merthyr on Saturday and then the re-match at\nChesham Utd next Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before we look at last night\u2019s games in\nour league, there was an important game in the FA Trophy last night, as\nWeymouth threw away the chance to proceed in the cup after losing 1-3 at home\nto Manchester-based Ramsbottom. This means that our league game at Weymouth on\nSaturday 2nd<\/sup> February, will go ahead as scheduled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There were 3 games in our league last\nnight to cover. Starting down at the bottom of the table at Dorchester as\nFarnborough took them apart winning 0-6, with goals by six different players.\nFarnborough were two up at half-time, but an early second-half goal killed off\nthe game for Boro. This win moved them upto 10th<\/sup> place in the\nleague.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another surprising result was the home\ndefeat by an improving Poole Town team to Swindon Supermarine. The Marine left\nPoole\u2019s Black Gold Stadium with a 2-5 victory, and they continue on their rise\nup the table. In fact, once I had checked the league standings, it was clear\nthat Swindon Supermarine actually sat above Farnborough in 9th<\/sup>\nplace. Their leading goal-scorer Conor McDonagh added another two to his total\nthis season.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally Beaconsfield Town who were the\nhighest placed club to play on Tuesday night, as they sit in 6th<\/sup>\nplace, just outside a playoff place, when they left Walton Casuals with a point\nafter a 1-1 draw. Walton took an early 5th<\/sup> minute lead only for a\nCharlie Losasso equaliser 20 minutes from time.       <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hendon FC continue to slip down the\ntable and fell another 3 places since last week and now sit in 15th<\/sup>\nplace and have now lost 11 of their last 12 games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Only Staines Town are on a worse run of\nform who have lost 12 on the bounce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ok Basingstoke currently 7th<\/sup>\nin our league with a home average attendance of 345 per home game. Our\nopponents this Saturday Merthyr, sit in 5th<\/sup> place with a home\naverage of 377.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
