However, since Yvan Jourdan’s arrival, the team has showed a different more effective attacking style. Also Adan Everiss has nailed down that left back role and gives a different attacking threat as well as a long throw-in attacking element, which we have not had for some while.

It is also noticeable how our results have picked up, since we have had a more settled side, instead of this mass changes/inclusions from week-to-week.

With this Saturday’s big match-up against Tiverton who sit two place below us in 18th, a victory would go some way in securing our safety as shown below the Walton Casuals Vs Frome Town confirms that one or both teams will drop points.

Next week I will be adding an extra column about who plays who with just four league games remaining for each team.

Well after last Saturday’s superb win at Wimborne the month of March finished with Basingstoke’s record of PLD 5 Won 2 Drawn 1 Lost 2 and 7 points out of 15.

We now head into the month of April with renewed hope and expectations, especially after back-to-back good performances

Basingstoke Fixtures are;

April

Saturday 6th – Tiverton Town (HOME) – Both teams will not want to lose this one and after losing down in Somerset last year, we will want to put the record straight.

Saturday 13th – Poole Town (AWAY) – Their promotion chase has faltered in recent weeks, but they still have a good home record.

Saturday 20th – Frome Town (HOME) – If results go against them Frome could be already be relegated by the time they come to the Camrose.

Monday 22nd – Farnborough (AWAY) – The Boro are on a good run of form currently and our record there isn’t great.

How many points do you think we need to get to stave off relegation?

Games in our league this week

Only two games in our league this week, and one of them was of big importance to Stoke.

Frome Town currently 21st hosted Beaconsfield Town and the Stags were the team that came away with the points after forward Brendan Matthew scored the only goal of the game on 21 minutes. The crowd an impressive 1,153 for a mid-week Well the game was pretty much one-sided as the impressive winger Emmanuel Odubade continued on his goal-scoring run as put the Terras ahead on 14 minutes. Then the league leading goal-scorer Brendan Goodship got the first of his two goals in the evening on the half-hour and they went into the break sitting comfortably. Despite the Met Police making two substitutions at the break, they went further behind on 68 mins as Brendan Thomson strike from 25yds made it 3-0, before Goodship added his second on the night and his 32nd of the season in injury-time.

With five games remaining for the five playoff teams, Weymouth hold a five-point lead and would be close to the title once they beat Staines Town on Saturday.

Evo-Stick South Premier Division South – Goal Scoring Chart

This table is from Evo-Stick Website, so assume it is accurate.

The current table looks like this,

Brandon Goodship – Weymouth 32

Tobias Holmes – Wimborne Town 29

Conor McDonagh – Swindon Supermarine 24

Andrew Neal – Taunton Town 21

Ian Traylor – Merthyr Town 21

Max Blackmore – Met Police 20

Jack Mazzone – Met Police 20

Levi Landricombe – Tiverton 19

Dylan Kearney – Harrow Borough 18

Attendances In Our League

Ok with just three more home games left, it looks like we will remain in 8th place in the Attendance League with an average home attendance of 380.

This week’s opponents Tiverton Town sit above us in 12th place with an average home attendance of 270.

Games To Keep An Eye On This Weekend

With us just outside the relegation places, but within five points of that bottom three, here are the other important games that can affect our position.

Beaconsfield Town Vs Wimborne Town (17th)

Salisbury VS Gosport Borough (20th)

Walton Casuals (19th) Vs Frome Town (21st)

Around the League in 48 Hrs – 3rd April 2019 For those Basingstoke fans who ventured out last night, it was one of those evening where the £8 admission was of superb value, as we fought, battled and won despite being down to ten men for close on 50 mins, and a referee who was […]

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false

25

post-3106","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-2018-19-news
["GET
