Basingstoke Town 1 – 0 Dorchester Town (Reid 7 mins)

Billy Upton, then appeared to have picked up a knock and received treatment, but was able to continue.

Dorchester had a little play in our half, but created nothing on the Stoke goal. Upton was back down on the ground in the fifteenth minute and received further treatment, but returned for a further three minutes before he was finally substituted for James Clark (18 mins).

As the rain started to fall, Stoke started to push forward through D’Andre Brown, and we won a corner on the left, which was cleared.

Dorchester won a corner on the right, but Jack Ball won one and then a second challenge, as we were able to clear.
Stoke had a little more forward play which started with Liam Ferdinand, who neatly turned on the ball, then found Joe O’Loughlin on the left, who smashed a shot from outside the penalty area, forcing the keeper to make the save and quickly recover the ball, before a Stoke player got to it.

With ten minutes to the break, It was noticeable that Brown had also appeared to have picked up an injury, and was down on the floor at the same time a Dorchester player went down following a collision with a Stoke player, and both received treatment, but as Brown was up, the injury to the Dorchester No.7 Wes Fogden, now appeared to be more serious, and received assistance from both clubs physios.

After a few minutes had passed, and the seriousness of the injury was starting to appear, the players were taken off the pitch.
Obviously the game was never to restart and was officially abandoned, as the player received continued treatment for over an hour before the was able to taken away in an ambulance.
Best wishes to Wes Fogden.

MATCH ABANDONED – To be replayed Tuesday

Match Thought’s
At the stage of the stoppage, Stoke were clearly on top and playing well, however, Billy Upton has picked up an injury and would be doubtful for the rematch.
