Calls for a red-card from the large Stoke contingent behind the goal, were ignored as the keeper only saw yellow, but a minute later, Clark, did what Clark does, as he sent the keeper the wrong way GOAL! Hanwell Town 1 – 1 Basingstoke Town (Clark 41 min Pen)

Ioannides who had received treatment, was down once more and was unable to continue, and was replaced by Lloyd Snell (45+2 mins).
We played five minutes of added-time, before going into the break level.
Halftime Score: Hanwell Town 1 vs 1 Basingstoke Town

Stoke attacked from the restart, as Ore Bello broke down the right and sent a low cross into D’Andre Brown’s path, but he was challenged as he tried to shoot, and the ball rolled harmlessly to Hanwell’s keeper.

However, two minutes later, Stoke were once again undone by the long throw, as it caused confusion once more, allowing a Hanwell player to head the ball home once more Hanwell Town 2-1 Basingstoke Town

Stoke however came close to levelling the game, as a cross from Bello found Joe Grant wide open at the far post, but he could direct his header wide of the left-hand post.
Stoke came close once more, as a Stoke corner, was initially cleared, but only to Ball, who sent a tantalising cross across the face of the goal, but Clark was unable to get that vital touch, with the Hanwell keeper rooted to his spot, and the ball ran out for a goal-kick.
That was to be Clark’s last action of the game, as he was replaced by Alex Kokoszka. Scott Armsworth was also replaced by Rudy Allen (62 mins).
The game was starting to drift, and we made our final two changes as Ore Bello was replaced by Dan Rowe, and D’Andre Brown was replaced by George Reid (67 mins).

Stok continued to be held back by the linesman in this half, who seems to make-up new rules about offside, as we entered the final five minutes of the game.
In added-time there was coming together between a few players, following a challenge between Kokoszka and Hanwell’s No.5.
We’ve played out the five minutes of added-time, and a few seconds later blew the final whistle for Basingstoke and its 25-26 season.

Final Score: Hanwell Town 2 vs 1 Basingstoke Town
Hall 13 mins, Snee 52 mins, Clark 33 min Pen,

Match Thoughts
Our winning run came to an end in a game lacking real desire, and not helped by the sweltering heat.
With other results around our league, we dropped to 17th, but four points above Weymouth who have back-to-back relegations.
Lots of decisions to be made around our 2026-27 squad, but now its time for this set of players to relax take a holiday, and can I personally thank-them for this seasons efforts.
Up Next:
That’s All Folks, See you in August

Match Report by Martin French..

Southern League Premier South – Saturday 25th April 2026 Hanwell Town 2 vs 1 Basingstoke Town Attendance 626 Venue: The Powerday Stadium, Perivale Lane, Greenford UB6 8TL Manager Dan Brownlie’s last line-up for the 2025-26 season was: 1.
