RG23 8BF
Uxbridge (The Reds), 2026-27 League Position 2nd

Last Saturday, not only did we beat the weather conditions, we also beat a confident Plymouth Parkway side, with a performance that must be close to our best of the season, with the scoreline (2-0), probably flattering the Devon-based side.
We now host Uxbridge, where we travelled to North-West London, just four weeks ago, and although our opponents were the team on top, it was once again a defensive error, that gave them the lead. A better start to the second-half, saw us draw level via a Jeremiah Okine-Peters finish, but this seemed to reignite Uxbridge’s attack, and they secured a second goal, and if not for a number of Simon Grant saves, the scoreline could have been worse, but ultimately we went down to defeat.

Our Opponents
The Reds are managed by Danny Edwards, who was previously at Chalfont St Peter for 15 seasons as manager, as he oversaw the club’s promotion to step 4 and an FA Vase semi-final. Danny is now in his 6th season at the helm at Uxbridge, having also previously worked at Chelsea FC and Southampton FC and is an UEFA A-Licence coach.

Since we last played them last month, the Reds have won both their league matches, plus progress in the FA Trophy 1st round (Egham 3-0), whilst going down to defeat 4-0 at home to Hornchurch in the FA Cup 4th qualifying round. They currently sit in second place with a record of Pld 11 Won 8 Drawn 2 Lost 1 GF 23, GA 8 and 26pts. Their away record stands at 2 Wins 2 draws & 1 loss. Their leading goal-scorers are strikers Francis Amartey (nine goals) & George Moore with seven goals this season. Amartey, was part of Walton & Hersham’s promotion campaign, and has a wealth of experience at clubs such as Ayr United, Aldershot Town, Slough Town and Hampton & Richmond Borough. Moore, is an attacking midfielder who joined from Harrow Borough in 2023. Last season’s top scorer with 22-goals, which saw him pick up the Supporters Player of the year trophy. Forward Trevan Robinson, got his first two goals of the season in last Saturday’s FA Trophy game. He was a regular goalscorer at all his previous clubs, which include Farnborough, Leatherhead, Raynes Park Vale, Chertsey Town and Tonbridge Angels. Jake Coombes, has three goals, and is a former QPR development squad regular, who has impressed with his direct running and goals, having spent last season on loan at Bracknell Town and Sholing.

Their midfield contained a number of ex-Stoke players in the match-up last month, including Sam Deadfield (two goals), and Luis Le Paih, but Le Paih, has been absent for the last few matches, due to picking up a head-injury against Evesham. Toby Nnandozie, (4 goals), is in his third season at Honeycroft, having joined from Rayners Lane in 2024. Combative midfielder who started his career at Risborough Rangers and has also represented Harrow Borough. Liam Prior-Tack, is back for a second season and is a regular goal-scorer for the team. Previously spent three seasons at Bracknell Town. Troy Perez-Duah, (3 goals), started in Walsall FC’s academy before joining Chesham United, and played Rayners Lane and Salisbury City. Played in the Romanian 2nd Division in 2024 before returning to England and joining Northwood. Signed from St Albans City in January 2026. Another ex-Hampton & Richmond is South African, Eddie Allsopp, (3 goals), who was a Charlton Athletic academy graduate, and has seen service at Lewes, Folkestone Invicta and Chatham Town. The also recently added Brian Nelson, who has joined on a one-month loan from Slough Town. He made 40 appearances across all competitions last season.

At right-back, will be Cole Brown, back for his second season after being at Chertsey Town. Brown did play for the Reds back in 2017. Alan Massey, is a vastly experienced defender, having played 10 seasons in the National League for Maidenhead United. A cool and calm leader who joined from Hampton & Richmond Borough in the summer. Ciaran Martin, signed this season, after last season’s loan dean from Portsmouth. Jack Burchell, is regarded as a commanding central defender with vast experience at step two of the football pyramid with Eastbourne Borough and Welling United. Signed this season from Burgess Hill Town. In goal will be Sam Morris, a Watford Under 21 keeper, who started his career at Leyton Orient. Joined The Reds in August. Previous loan spells at Hendon and Northwood.

Our Basingstoke Town Side
Just 72 hours ago, we put in one of our best and most dominating performances this season, as a Plymouth Parkway side, full of confidence, were more or less out-thought and outplayed by a Basingstoke side with two additions from the previous weeks big defeat. Those two additions loanees defender Dan Bayliss & forward Amir Hadi, more than played their parts in the win.

We now face another tough match-up, this time against second-placed Uxbridge, and also a team we lost too just a month ago. With our deserved victory, and the rest of the league idle on Saturday, we moved up four places to 13th, with our record at Pld 12 Won 4 Drawn 3 Lost 6, GF 21, GA 25 and 15pts. Our home record sits at a decent 3 wins, 2 draws and 1 loss.

The strikeforce strengthened by the arrival of Hadi alongside Cheick Sylla, probed Parkway’s defence all-game, and both had half-chances to add to the scoreline. Jeremiah Okine-Peters and Chinedu Agu were both second-half subs, and unless we go with a different set-up tomorrow, they will likely be options off the bench once more. Loanee Larry Omoregie was not part of the matchday squad, and Christos Papkonstantinou, has now missed the last two games, so is either injured, or possibly out on loan at another club.

Saturday saw the welcome return of Louis McGrory, who was a major part of the midfield dominance we held over Parkway, allowing Tom Blake to push into more attacking positions. With a starting back five it mean’t Scott Armsworth was the third midfielder, and scored this third goal in four games for the club. Armsworth did pick up a knock and was replaced by Alex Solomon at halftime. Hopefully Armsworth’s injury is not too serious, and will be a consideration for tomorrow night. Amardeep Singh, replaced Dan Bayliss at the break, and is the clear next option, too start, if we go with four in the middle. Alex Solomon is clearly a reliable option for our Manager, and James Henry was a very late substitution. It was good to see D’Andre Brown, going through his paces at halftime, so he may be close to a return to the squad. No update on Lloyd Snell & John Adebiyi around their fitness status.

The defence was as its best, buoyed by the return of Dan Bayliss, who for 45 minutes, dominated any Parkway player around him. This brought out the best in the rest of the back five, with Joe O’Loughlin and Lewis Colwell to push forward to support the midfield on a number of occasions. Jack Ball & Billy Upton were the other two centre-backs who again allowed Parkway very little attacking moments. Bernie Tanner was absent from the squad, but could get a recall tomorrow. Jonathan Gjoshe has been absent from the squad for the last four games, so it is unclear if he is injured or still with the club. Simon Grant had one of his quietest afternoons of the season, as he was rarely tested by the opposition all game.

Well our last two matches, were like night and day in terms of our performances, so what can we expect in respect of tomorrow night’s return match with a very good Uxbridge team.
The weather is due to be dry around kick-off time, so why not make your way down and get behind your Stoke side.

Let’s Go Stoke !

Match Preview by Martin French..

Match Preview: Southern League Premier South Basingstoke Town vs Uxbridge When: Tuesday 27th October 2026 Kick-off 7.45pm Where: Winklebury Centre, Winklebury Way, Basingstoke.
