Around Our League On New Years Day

Well before Stoke play their first game of 2022 later today, let’s take a look at the New Years Day games in our league.

With a number of teams sitting idle, coupled with three games lost through covid restrictions, just three games took place on the day.

Starting with League Leaders Bracknell Town who visited today’s opponents Westfield, and via first-half goals by Max Herbert and Shamur Moore, they picked up another victory their twelfth in a row, as their lead at the top increased to fourteen points.

Chertsey Town remain In second-place after picking up a point with a late injury-time equaliser from Andrew Crossley at playoff hopefuls Bedfont Sports. Sports in front of 302 fans had taken the lead through Max Webb on 73 minutes. This pushed Sports into 6th place in the table.

The other game also included playoff contenders, as Marlow picked up the victory via two goals from Devontae Romeo in the final ten minutes of the match at Thatcham Town’s Waterside Park. The two-nil victory allowed Marlow to move up one place into fourth replacing Uxbridge who were idle.
