BTFC Community Club Statement – 12th January 2018

Basingstoke Town Community Football Club: Statement 12 January 2018

Maintaining Our Playing Squad

At this stage of the transition to full ownership and the planned move to Winklebury, the Community Club’s immediate focus is on fund raising for the players’ budget.

Last night the Community Club Board met with Manager Terry Brown to assess the current situation. The response to the call for extra funds has been quick and positive. In the light of the money received, the commitments made and the continuing fund-raising initiatives (all of which need ongoing support to deliver expected sums), it was agreed that the current playing squad should be maintained. Any changes would be for football reasons not purely financial ones.

The Community Board and Terry expressed their sincere and grateful thanks to all those that had responded so promptly and generously so far.

Terry Brown said ‘This is great news, but it is not job done, breathe a sigh of relief. Continued fund raising from all sources is essential to support tonight’s decision, sustain the club and build for the future.’ All money raised goes to the Community Club.

How to help?

We need people to help in whatever way they can, whether in volunteering, assisting in raising funds, signing up for events like the Sports Evening (22 Feb) or Beer Festival (2 April). In February we shall need help in approaching local companies to become corporate members of the Community Club and more. Email admin@btfc.co.uk if you are interested.

Why not sign up for our 200 Club (£10 a month) with prize money of £350 every month and growing or sell Lucky Sevens in your work place or to friends and neighbours.
