Well we have an early chance to get back to winning ways after losing at Bracknell Town last Saturday, as we now face second-placed Uxbridge under the lights at Winklebury.

Our Opponents
The Reds are managed by Danny Edwards who after working at both Chelsea & Southampton football clubs went onto manage at Chalfont St Peter for 15 years before joining Uxbridge, bringing his whole coaching staff with him.

They currently sit in second place with a current record of Pld 10 Won 8 Drawn 1 Lost 1 GF 23 GA 8 PTS 25
Their record is very similar to Bracknell’s and like them they won 2-1 at home as they held onto to beat Chipstead Saturday. The have also only dropped just five points, which was a 1-1 draw at Bedfont Sports, whilst the loss was at Bracknell 1-0.
Having scored 23 goals in their ten games, their victories although very tight, did include a mammoth shellacking of Northwood 7-1.
In the cups they also lost to a Southern League Premier side in Chesham Utd but this was in a replay 2-1. Their participation in the FA Trophy still continues, as after beating little Aveley Utd 2-1, they then beat Basildon Utd 2-1 to reach the 1st round proper and will travel to Walton Casuals in the next round at the end of the month.

Looking at their offense, we will need to shut down their vastly experienced striker Anthony Mendy who has 16 goals on the season. This includes 12 league goals which leads the league along with Tom Collins, who since playing against us for Chipstead as switched to Hanwell. He is ably supported by ex-Hendon FC and Hayes & Yeading striker Mahlondo Martin who has six goals.
In midfield they have well-travelled Victor Osobu, who joined from Barton Rovers, who has added three goals. Alongside him they have Sam Shaw, who has also played at Hartley Wintney. They also have Ade Adesoye who can also play in defence, and Prince Ogunmekan, who has played previously for Bromley & Coalville Town.
In defence they have ex-Harrow Borough Ryan Haugh, whilst Alan Hedley who is also club Captain had previously played 500 games for Chalfont St Peter before joining the Reds. They also have defender David Sota, another ex-Chalfont player.
Their keeper is Tyler Tobin who joined in 2019 from Ashford Town. Note he did get booked Saturday but not sure for what?

It is clear by their record that they rarely concede too many goals, and have a similar bend not break defence like Bracknell.

Your Basingstoke Town Side
After facing first-placed Bracknell, we now host second-placed Uxbridge with our unbeaten record now gone.
In a game that neither team deserved to lose, our late equaliser by Stefan Brown, turned out not to be enough, as ex-Stoke defender found space to head home winner as we entered injury-time. Did the extra man advantage make the difference, some will say quite likely, as they broke the deadlock just two minutes later.

We slipped down to 7th place with our record now sitting at PLD 8 Won 6 Drawn 1 Lost 1 GF 15 GA 10 Points 19
Anyway, we face Uxbridge, possibly with both Conor Lynch & Stefan Brown in the starting line-up, after Stefan played the last 25 minutes Saturday, and his quick turn and finish pulled us level.

We will also have Bradley Wilson, McKoy Palmer in contention as well as George Reid who could make a welcome return as well. The midfield led by Simon Dunn, will need to be at their best and it will be interesting to see who starts as D’Andre Brown who came off the bench Saturday could get a starting role tomorrow night. Ben Cook, Anton Rodgers & Lloyd Snell are all in the mix here, and Manager Dan Brownlie will have to make tough choice on formation and players.
It is believed defender Daryl Wollers one-game suspension for his red card won’t take effect till Saturday’s Tooting & Mitcham game, so is likely to be in the line-up tomorrow night. This would leave Nathan Smart, Daniel Williamson, Aiden Lewis & James Haworth in the mix for the final spots, unless Shaun Dallimore is fit to return as well. Paul Strudley will again be between the sticks.

The support at Bracknell last Saturday was tremendous, and we may need that again tomorrow night to help overcome a difficult side from North-West London.
So please come down to Winklebury and play your part in getting the team back to winning ways.
