Match Preview: Southern League Premier Division South
Uxbridge vs Basingstoke Town
When: Tuesday 29th September 2026 Kick-off 7.45pm
Honeycroft, Horton Road, West Drayton, Middlesex. UB7 8HX
Uxbridge (The Reds), 2026-27 League Position 8th
Following a non-descript exit from the FA Trophy at Poole Town, we head to Uxbridge tomorrow night in an expected tough league match-up.
Last season’s games vs Uxbridge, saw us lose 2-1 at the Honeycroft last October, and then earlier this year in January, we trailed until the 97th minute, until a James Clark penalty conversion, grabbed us a point.
Our Opponents
The Reds continue to be managed by Danny Edwards, who was previously at Chalfont St Peter for 15 seasons as manager. Oversaw the club’s promotion to step 4 and an FA Vase semi-final. Danny is in his 6th season at the helm at Uxbridge, having also previously worked at Chelsea FC and Southampton FC and is an UEFA A-Licence coach.
Uxbridge have got off to a flying start, somewhat surprising the rest of the league, currently sitting second in the table with a record of Pld 8 Won 5 Drawn 2 Lost 1 GF 17 GA 7 and 17pts. Unlike Basingstoke, they continue their journey not only in the FA Cup, but also the FA Trophy. NB: Despite all this league and cup success they still get a crowd of 500, and this despite being the lowest season ticket prices in the league.
Their leading goal-scorers are strikers Francis Amartey & George Moore with six goals this season. Amartey, was part of Walton & Hersham’s promotion campaign, and has a wealth of experience at clubs such as Ayr United, Aldershot Town, Slough Town and Hampton & Richmond Borough. Moore, is an attacking midfielder who joined from Harrow Borough in 2023. Last season’s top scorer with 22-goals, which saw him pick up the Supporters Player of the year trophy. Other forwards include Trevan Robinson, joined the club in the summer. Regular goalscorer at all his previous clubs, which include Farnborough, Leatherhead, Raynes Park Vale, Chertsey Town and Tonbridge Angels.
Their midfield tomorrow night, could contain a number of ex-Stoke players including Sam Deadfield (goalscorer in FA Trophy Saturday), and Luis Le Paih. Toby Nnandozie, (3 goals), is in his third season at Honeycroft, having joined from Rayners Lane in 2024. Combative midfielder who started his career at Risborough Rangers and has also represented Harrow Borough. Liam Prior-Tack, is back for a second season and is a regular goal-scorer for the team. Previously spent three seasons at Bracknell Town. Troy Perez-Duah, started in Walsall FC’s academy before joining Chesham United, and played Rayners Lane and Salisbury City. Played in the Romanian 2nd Division in 2024 before returning to England and joining Northwood. Signed from St Albans City in January 2026. Another ex-Hampton & Richmond is South African, Eddie Allsopp, who was a Charlton Athletic academy graduate, and has seen service at Lewes, Folkestone Invicta and Chatham Town.
At right-back, should be Cole Brown, back for his second season after being at Chertsey Town. Brown did play for the Reds back in 2017. Alan Massey, is a vastly experienced defender, having played 10 seasons in the National League for Maidenhead United. Cool and calm leader who joined from Hampton & Richmond Borough in the summer. Ciaran Martin, signed this season, after last seasons loan dean from Portsmouth. Jack Burchell, is regarded as a commanding central defender with vast experience at step two of the football pyramid with Eastbourne Borough and Welling United. Signed this season from Burgess Hill Town. In goal will be Sam Morris, a Watford Under 21 keeper, who started his career at Leyton Orient. Joined The Reds in August. Previous loan spells at Hendon and Northwood.
Our Basingstoke Town Side
For those present at Saturday’s FA Trophy defeat, I think our Managers post-match comments, summed up what we saw on the pitch. A pretty drab affair, with little actual goal-mouth action, with one real chance, and very little else, that somehow failed to give us the lead, which ultimately cost us the game.
We now head to North-West London, to take on a side looking at recent form, will expect to turn us over. Stoke will go into this game with having not one a game for a calendar month, and pretty much the same squad as Saturday. We currently sit in sixteenth place and our league record at Pld 8 Won 2 Drawn 3 Lost 3 GF 13 GA 14 and 9pts.
Our strikeforce continues to struggle to find the net on a consistent basis, and with the unfortunate news that Miles Obodo has this afternoon been recalled by Farnham, this will put more pressure on the remaining strikers Jeremiah Okine-Peters and Christos Papkonstantinou, It is unclear when Andrei Chiriac will return to the matchday squad, and Finn Evans (who stated to fans he was fit), could be addition either tomorrow, or on Saturday.
The midfield will look the same, but potentially gametime for both Louis McGrory & James Henry, both unused subs Saturday. This will mean Tom Blake, D’Andre Brown and Alex Solomon, will have their work cut out to hold a strong Uxbridge equivalent.
More connections between the two clubs, continues with the fact that two ex-Reds, Casey Bocarro & Bernie Tanner will be two of our starting defenders tomorrow night. Billy Upton will be our captain once more and will be partnered by Tanner, whilst Lewis Colwell will play opposite Bocarro on the right. Two other potential options in Sulayman Ceesay, and Jonathan Gjoshe, depending on how we set-up. Simon Grant mad a couple of decent saves during the game, and will be our keeper tomorrow night.
After our latest cup exit, we now must look to push up the league, and despite what looks like a very tough match-up, this team has the capability to come away from London with some points, but this will require all eleven players to be on the top of their game.
Hope to see as many of you there as possible, the team needs your support now more than ever.
Let’s Go Stoke !
