The game got underway, and our new keeper does not start well, as a mix-up at the back, allows the referee to award a penalty, which was converted. Basingstoke 0-1 Hungerford
Within a minute of the restart Bradley Wilson levels the score, as he makes no mistake slotting the ball into the left-hand corner of the net GOAL! Basingstoke Town 1 – 1 Hungerford Town (Wilson 5 mins)
Stoke remained level for precisely two minutes as Marcus lost the ball in our own penalty area, and a Hungerford forward makes no mistake. Basingstoke 1-2 Hungerford
Stoke looked for an equaliser, but some inaccurate passing did not help our attacks.
On sixteen minutes, we came close to a leveller, as Wilson on the edge of the penalty chipped the ball to Liam Ferdinand, who hit a first-time volley just wide of the left-hand post.
Stoke were still the team on top, but Elliott Legg then made a much-needed tackle as Hungerford looked to break into our penalty area.
Stoke’s next attack, was from Josh Green, as he beat his marker, then travelled ten yards, before unleashing a left-foot shot that the keeper took two attempts to gather.
Ben Cook was noticeably starting to influence the game in the middle, and Stoke’s next chance came, Robbie Gallagher, turned the Crusaders No.5 inside out and cut along the byline only for his low cross to be pushed clear by the Hungerford’s keeper, with Wilson unable to get the loose ball.
Just before the half-hour mark, Josh Green showed his quality in defence as, he raced back to make two blocks, the second resulting in a Hungerford corner.
Stoke continued to push, but that final pass was missing, as we moved into the final five minutes of the half.
Two more attacks from Stoke both from corners, as firstly Cook’s header flew comfortably over the bar. Then from another corner a deflection has the ball slide inches wide of the right-hand post.
Cook then could have put it level in added-time, as a neat move sets him up but his shot from nine yards, was blocked by a Hungerford defender.

The second-half got underway, and there was little to note in the first ten minutes.
Gallagher’s strong run down the right beating two players, but his cross evaded any Stoke player in the six-yard box.
It was time for Charlie Austin to make his appearance on 66 mins, replacing Liam Ferdinand.
Two minutes later we made our second change as Scott Amsworth replaced an injured Jack Ball (68 mins).
Hungerford then had the chance to extend their lead, but the shot flew over the bar.
Stoke trying to get back into the game, rung the changes, as Joel Rollinson replaced James Dickson, and D’Andre Brown replaced Elliott Legg (74 mins).
Still little sign of us getting back into the game within fifteen minutes to go.
Stoke made its final change as James Clark replaced Bradley Wilson (81 mins).
Hungerford’s keeper then made a fine save, from Austin’s turn and left-foot shot that he pushed out for a corner.
The referee confirmed eight added-minutes, and little to note apart from a couple of corners that Hungerford defended.
The final whistle and back-to-back losses in the league.

Not seen many opening ten minutes like this before, but again we were on the back-end of two more defensive errors, that ultimately cost us, despite being the better team on the day. Simon Grant did confirm that it was a one-match ban for his red card at Gosport, so will be available for our next league game.
Winless in five games in the league now, we slip to thirteenth, and currently with a free Saturday next week.
