With the over cast sky above, this rearranged league fixture got underway, and it was the visitors who took an early lead, after an error at the back, gave Gosport a corner. From the corner, a miss-hit clearance allowed the ball to fall to a Gosport player, who drove the ball into the bottom corner of the net. Basingstoke Town 0-1 Gosport Borough
Gosport continued to be the team on top, as a number of passes went astray by Stoke players.
The referee made his first of numerous strange decisions, as Okine-Peters seemed to get dragged down inside the penalty area, but was waived away much to the shock of the Stoke management team.
We hit the twenty-minute mark, with Gosport pushing for a second, but that final pass was fortunately missing.
Just before the half-hour, a shot from range from Alex Solomon beat the dive of Gosport’s keeper, but bounces off the post and seconds later, the follow-up shot his blocked away close from goal.
Billy Upton’s header a minute later from a corner, forced a great save from the Gosport keeper, who pushed the all over the bar.
Another Stoke attack saw a blocked shot fall to Solomon who smashed his shot a foot over the bar.
More questionable calls from the referee, gave Gosport some momentum, but fortunately a header and then a shot flew wide of Stoke’s left-hand post.
Stoke were to have the final chance of the half, as a shot from Okine-Peters was saved down low, followed by James Henry’s shot was blocked away.
After three minutes of added-time, we went into the break trailing.

Stoke came out the second-half with more purpose, but that final pass was still missing as the referee was starting to frustrate both sets of players, let alone the crowd, with his decisions.
On 56 minutes, Gosport should have doubled their lead, as a lazy pass, allowed Gosport to break, and a seconds later Simon Grant was forced to make a save down low, pushing it out for a corner.
Grant made another save as a through ball saw the lively Gosport No.20 fail to beat Grant from ten yards out, who palmed the ball away.
Penalty was the cries from the Stoke fans behind the goal, as Okine-Peters neatly beat his marker taking the ball along the by-line, only to be taken out by a rash Gosport challenge, as the referee somehow allowed play-on.
Obodo continued to cause the Gosport backline problems, with his pace and touch, but his shot was met by a last-ditch block out for a corner.
In between Stoke’s mounting number of attacks, Gosport should have doubled their lead, but their striker somehow slid his shot wide of the left-hand post from six yards.
Stoke were forced into their first change, as Miles Obodo had picked up a knock, and was replaced by Christos Papkonstantinou (70 mins).
Wave after wave of Stoke attacks were arriving, as Upton won the ball in his half, then took it thirty yards, then slid the ball inch perfectly to Okine-Peters whose powerful shot was met by a diving save by the Gosport keeper. A minute later Stoke cold have levelled, but Henry’s shot flew wide from D’Andre Browns’s neat control and pass.
Okine-Peters had the next chance but his header from Colwill was poor, and flew over the bar.
Now inside the final ten minutes, fans were starting to wonder if that equaliser was ever going to arrive, but it did as Colwill’s cross picked out Okine-Peters whose low header found the corner of the net. GOAL! Basingstoke Town 1 – 1 Gosport Borough (Okine-Peters 84 mins)
A quiet few final minutes saw, Casey Bocarro go in the book, then Grant received a stray boot to the body, followed by a yellow for Lewis Colwill.
In the first of six added-minutes, the referee, gave Gosport’s Chris Zebroski, a second yellow card and he was off.
Despite Gosport players looking dead on their feet, they were able to prevent Stoke from adding a second, and both teams had to settle for a point.

I bet a few eyebrows were raised, when our Management team, saw who had been designated today’s game, and he certainly did not let us down, but Will leave that there!
A pretty average first-half from Stoke, saw us once more dominate a second-half, and good chances were probably in double figures, and Jeremiah Okine-Peters will be happy he finally got his first league goal of the season. Think we deserved all three points, despite Gosport having one or two chances. Let’s hope Miles Obodo’s injury is not serious.
