It was a quiet start to this Tuesday evening league game, with Stoke defending the clubhouse end in the first-half, until the thirteenth minute, when Billy Upton cleared the ball close to the goal-line.
Stoke were not helping themselves, as the distribution out from the back was poor to say the least.
Stoke’s first real possession in Uxbridge’s final third came just after twenty minutes, but we failed to put any effort on the Uxbridge goal.
Lewis Colwell, went into the book for a heavy tackle close to the touchline (24 mins). From the free-kick an Uxbridge forward fortunately headed wide of the right-hand post.
On the half-hour mark, the Uxbridge keeper gave Stoke a chance, as he smashed his clearance off one of his own players straight to D’Andre Brown, who ignored calls to shoot, did a quick one-two with James Henry, and despite the acute angle, he smashed a left-foot shot, that forced the keeper into diving safe, pushing the ball out for a corner on the right.
It was from another poor distribution that we went behind, as from a corner ex-Stoke midfielder Luis Le Paih, was first to the cross, and headed home. Uxbridge 1-0 Basingstoke Town
With three minutes to the break, Simon Grant was called into action, making a good save down low, pushing the ball out for a corner.
We go into the break trailing by a solitary goal.
Halftime Score: Uxbridge 1 vs 0 Basingstoke Town
The second-half got underway, and in the 50thh minute, we could have gone two behind, as from our attack, Uxbridge broke, and their striker outpaced our defender, but Grant came to the rescue diving on the ball as the attacker tried to go round him.
Despite Stoke looking more positive this half, another poor pass in midfield, allowed Uxbridge to break once more, but again Grant came to the rescue blocking the shot down low and out for a corner.
Tom Blake had a decent shot from outside the penalty area, but it was always flying over the bar.
Just after the hour-mark, Uxbridge should have double their lead, but Le Paih smashed his shot over the bar from close range.
Stoke continued to press, and the goal finally arrived, as more good work from Brown, saw his shot rebound off the post to Okine-Peters, whose shot found the net, despite the keeper getting a hand to it. GOAL! Uxbridge 1 – 1 Basingstoke Town (Okine-Peters 65 mins)
Uxbridge again failed to take full advantage of their chances, as Stoke’s defence cleared the ball twice off the line in the space of two seconds and were able to clear.
Stoke made it’s first change of the evening as James Henry was replaced by Christos Papkonstantinou (71 mins).
Grant made another decent save down low from a shot just outside the penalty area.
Uxbridge finally took one of their chances as their attacker, outmanoeuvred past two Stoke defenders, before planting his powerful shot into the net leaving Grant no chance. Uxbridge 2-1 Basingstoke Town (76 mins).
Stoke made it’s second change as Casey Bocarro was replaced by Sulayman Ceesay (79 mins).
Stoke made it’s third change as Lewis Colwell was replaced by Kysha-Romane Farquharson (84 mins)
Stoke tried to get back into the game, but one shot flew way over the bar, and another shot was pushed out by the keeper, for a corner on the left.
Uxbridge were able to play out the five minutes of added-time which included Stoke’s fourth change as Alex Solomon was replaced by Joe Lewi-Evans (93 mins), and Stoke go down to a narrow defeat on the road.
Fulltime Score: Uxbridge 2 vs 1 Basingstoke Town

Match Thoughts
Tonight’s performance with Stoke up against it from the start, saw once more a better second-half performance and fightback, but ultimately fell short to a good attacking Uxbridge side. We slip one place to seventeenth in the table.
