Stoke Continue Pre-Season Wins This Time At Egham Town

Following a strong performance at National League South side Chippenham Town, Basingstoke were back on the road this Saturday, as they took the trip in to Surrey, to take on Combined Counties side, Egham Town, who were now managed by ex-Stoke players Manny Williams & Jay Gasson.

Basingstoke’s initial line-up was a mix of experienced players and a number of academy players. A much larger Stoke crowd, were on hand to see Stoke start well, but it took some time, before they finally took the lead after a nice George Reid run set-up D’Andre Brown who confidently found the back of the net.

One nil at halftime, Stoke made a number of changes, but were under some initial pressure from the homeside who took once of their chances to level the scoring.

Stoke came roaring back and trialist A, had time and space to give Stoke the lead once again.

Further changes saw a much fresher side than Egham, and Stoke pushed forward time and again, looking for a third goal. The third and decisive goal came after good work by Bradley Wilson down the left, found Paul Hodges who powered home his header past the Egham keeper into the net.

With no more goals, Stoke were happy with the workout and the 3-1 victory, as players and fans alike rekindled their friendship with Manny & Jay after the game.
