With our captain Billy Upton missing from today’s game, Louis McGrory took over the captain’s armband, as Stoke attacked the clubhouse end in the first-half.
In the fifth minute, Stoke attacked, and a cross was met by Joe O’Loughlin, but the Poole keeper made the save.
Little from Poole at this moment, as Stoke attacked again through O’Loughlin, who found Jedidiah Brown, but his shot flew past the post for a goal-kick.
Poole started to push more into our half, but still failed to trouble Simon Grant in goal, as we hit the twenty-minute mark.
Stoke were still the team looking for the opening goal, and a good move saw Jeremiah Okine-Peters find Brown, but his shot should failed to beat the keeper.
Poole who had done very little till now then thought they had scored, as two minutes of possession around our penalty area, finally resulted with them hitting the post with Grant beaten.
This seems to have woken Poole up, as they continue to put pressure on our back five, who are holding firm at the moment.
With five minutes to go to the break, Ex-Stoke forward Ezio Touray has his first chance of the day, but Grant makes a good save.
Stoke had one more attack before the break, which resulted in Tom Blake’s shot that flew over the bar.
The referee played four minutes of added-time, before we went into the break level and with Stoke having slightly the better chances.

Stoke make a rare change at halftime, as Jedidiah Brown is replaced by Christos.
Poole created the first chance of the second-half, but the shot didn’t trouble Grant, who made an easy save.
Stoke are starting to push forward as we hit the hour-mark, but very little to trouble the Poole goal.
Well, well Stoke open the scoring, as Miles Obodo, received the ball, then takes his time to find the top corner of the net. GOAL! Poole Town 0 – 1 Basingstoke Town (Obodo 63 mins)
Poole had a chance to get back level a minute later, but we are to block the ball from close range.
Stoke made it’s second change of the day with Alex Solomon replaced by James Henry (66 mins).
Poole attacked down the right, but Grant makes a simple catch of the game.
The with a few calls for Obodo from fans (including me), to shoot as he breaks towards the Poole goal, he put the game to bed as the Poole keeper is not going to stop Obodo’s shot from twenty-eight yards, as it flies into the back of the net GOAL!! Poole Town 0 – 2 Basingstoke Town (Obodo 86 mins)
We make a late third change with Jermiah Okine-Peters replaced by D’Andre Brown (88 mins).
With the odd delay, and drink break, we start seven minutes of added-time, which we played out comfortably, and we leave Poole with all three points.

Match Thoughts
Well we needed goals from our forward-line and we found them in Miles Obodo’s stunning brace, which separated what was a fairly average game, that Stoke managed very well. Good debuts for Sol Ceesay & incoming Alex Solomon, as part of a strong defensive and team performance.
We get our first win of the season, and move upto fourteenth at this early stage of the season.
